I thought I'd have so much trouble pulling another win out of the bag, but it doesn't seem so hard anymore.

How awesome am I? I wrote more than ten thousand words today. Sure, I had to if I wanted to finish, but the important thing is that I did.

YAY!!! Only four thousand more words. In comparison to this morning, that seems but a pittance, a mere four more hours worth of work.

The original plan was to write this long, arduous, beautiful tale of not-quite-star-crossed lovers who manage to stay together through this all. A week or so ago (longer, really, I guess) I realised how absolutely boring this was and couldn't bring myself to write. How had I ever thought that a barely plotted shred would act as enough to guide me through 50 000 words?

I have no idea. Today I started writing part 3, of the novel, which was supposed to be:

In my female character's P.O.V. (it's not still the male's... and I'm not even sure if she's going to go back to being main after she broke up with him)
About how they weren't getting married and just having a very long engagement

In my boredom I introduced a new character, Justin, Alec's cousin. He was supposed to be vying for Mae's affection but it turns out that he's gay and just got out of a terrible relationship which is the whole reason why he's in Australia, and he, Alec, and Alec's best friend Rob (who was practically a cameo in part 1) have started an ice cream shop together.

I don't care, at least I'm writing something. Who knows what Part 4 will bring in its thrilling conclusion?

My story's completely lost its plot. I mean, it didn't have much of one in the first place, but it's not even keeping that. Nothing happens. I just write conversations because they're easy to rack up word count with. At least, it is if you're me. Conversations and prepositions are my friends.

Yes, I know, day five's total is woeful. It is thankfully still about the minimum word count total. I just couldn't bring myself to write. And I was sitting in front of the computer screen for too long, so most of that was handwritten just before I fell asleep.

Today I intend to catch back up, making my way to the 12000 mark. We'll see how that goes... after my exam which I will hopefully not fail because otherwise I am totally going to screw up my life. I hate that one poor performance in one exam can have such an outcome on your life.

I'm doing pretty well so far. Sadly NaNo is the only part of my life in which I am succeeding at the moment. I think this is my worst StuVac ever. I just need to study but I can't bring myself to do it.

I'm probably going to have to resort to drastic measures soon. Like wasting paper and printing out notes to reduce distractions. How annoying. And un-environmentally friendly. And everyone seems to be on an environmental kick these days (which will probably die out in the next ten years, then ten years after that be resurrected). What with all the "Consider the environment before printing out this email" messages at the bottom of work emails.

In the meantime, I think I might just do another 'drawing'.

Spur of the moment plots are so not good. It's hard to keep up your writing stamina if you're already bored with your idea.

I was starting to get really worried over the past week that I would be plotless and therefore fail miserably on account of being ridiculously bored. It's hard for me to finish something and read it again without thinking it's absolutely horrible.

So the plot I'm probably going to go with is one I outlined a couple of months ago and told myself I was not allowed to write until I finished with "Sorry" (which is posted at my FictionPress account). So it hasn't been started, but it's an idea that I haven't grown completely bored with.

So what is my idea? You're just going to have to wait and find out.

It's barely October. We're not even halfway through yet. But I'm just waiting for November. October is a crap month.

I'm not even in the noveling mood, that's how crap October is. I haven't really written anything since the story I started after Screnzy and I finished that. It took longer than it should have and was sort of NaNo practice in that I wrote basically nothing else besides it. And I finished it. But I don't think it's quite 50 000 words, and it took more than a month.

However, my plots don't really stand up for more than 50 000 words. After all, last year I had to insert extra scenes to hit the deadline. Not that I minded. Those are almost more fun to write since I'm more of a short story kind of person. Too impatient, I guess.

Bzzrt! NaNo Plot

Or perhaps not a NaNo plot. Anyway, since I've been thinking about NaNo, I'll just call it one.

I'm thinking that perhaps each chapter will have something to do with words, and their fictional meanings. Like that one blog, which I've completely forgotten how to get to. But I'll make them up myself, anyhow.

The character is a word enthusiast. With square-framed, thick-rimmed glasses. And carries a large book to write in. (S?)he likes to make words up to suit her purposes, and also make up different meanings to words that mean the wrong thing.

Her purpose (I'm pretty sure this is a girl) is to get a word she invented entered into a dictionary. A real one. The Oxford, I guess.

She wears long floral skirts, and wears her hair out. It's sort of wavy and always a mess. And brown.

And if I use a word a day app of some sort, that's inspiration the whole month of November.

For example, what's the word for 'word enthusiast'? I'd make one up, but I don't know what the Latin for 'word' is. Linguaphiles. I think that's the closest.

I suppose she's a romantic, but doesn't think she'll ever have that fairytale romance and the guy who sweeps her off her feet. She's right, but he's lovely in his own way.

It turned into a rom-com, lol.

I don't have a plot. However, I've decided to write about the people who live in a building with the worlds longest staircase inside it. So this morning, I tried to draw it in Photoshop (yeah, I know, 'draw'). That was mightily complicated and it looked awful, so I gave up. But man did I waste a lot of time on it. So not good.

That sounds like a ridiculous idea in itself. Especially since this is my NaNo blog. But I have lots of other things to do. Things that need to be done before November. And then during November there's more things to do. So I shouldn't be thinking any more about NaNo than absolutely necessary. And particularly only during the month of November.

But it's October and although I haven't got a concrete plot, I find myself thinking. I mean, I looked at my Screnzy blog, and looked at the pictures and thought: I want to make pretty pictures for my NaNo. And I think it would be interesting to start with the pictures and then move onto creating characters and watching them live their lives, rather than the plot-based way I usually do things. But I'm thinking too much. And I'm on the NaNo forums too much (even though I haven't posted that often... forums will always be my downfall).

And I should be sleeping now, but no, I'm on my blog, blogging. Nattering on to an audience of not many for no reason other than I like to talk. And I like to write. Blogging was made for authors because let's face it, we're narcissistic. What character is not in some way an incarnation of ourselves?
